Lacrosse: Knoxville Warriors vs Knox Cannons

Lately it seems I’ve been covering a lot of high school varsity sports.  I really enjoy it. I don’t usually cover junior varsity or middle school sports. On Friday, a friend from church had commented that I should come out to John Tarleton Park on Saturday and shoot her son’s lacrosse game.  The Knoxville Warriors and Knox Cannons are both middle school aged lacrosse teams here in Knoxville. The Warriors are based around the Farragut area while the Cannons are based around the Bearden area.  Her son plays for the Cannons, which is only in their second year of existence. This was my first attempt to cover lacrosse and since I wasn’t covering for media I shot from behind the fence (or rather through the fence) instead of getting on the field. The game started at 11:30 and went until about 1:00.  To overcome the really harsh lighting and the shadows created by their helmets, shooting with a strong backlight and exposing for their skin is about the only way to see faces. Congratulations to the Cannons for the 9-5 win over the Warriors.
