As I had mentioned in yesterday’s post, this is the game that I was assigned to cover on Wednesday night.  As in the case with the Farragut vs Maryville girls game, I had my lights setup to cover a half-court game and the team I would be covering in the first half was not my assignment.  When shooting basketball, I really like to get the angles that most fans don’t get to see… that of course being somewhere on the baseline.  During the tournament, I got my first chance to see Lenoir City play.  Surprisingly, they were able to hang in with Bearden for most all the game. In the end, Bearden won and took the District Championship.

Wednesday night I was assigned to cover the championship game of the District 4-AAA tournament.  Lenoir City was playing top seeded Bearden.  The consolation game was West vs Knoxville Catholic.  Although I wasn’t specifically assigned to cover this game, I arrived at my usual time to have my lights setup and ready to shot the 6:30 game.  West and Catholic are both schools in the coverage area of the Shopper, so I figured I’d get some photos in case they asked for some or needed some filler. Catholic ended up with a 76-68 win, taking third place in the district.

As I mentioned in the previous post, my assignment was to cover the Farragut girls in the championship game.  I was setup so that I would be covering them in the second half.  Normally I would like to cover them in the first half so that way I am certain I have what I need for the night.  Unfortunately for Farragut, they just couldn’t stop Maryville.  They trailed almost the entire game. Congratulations to Maryville for winning the district in their 55-44 victory over Farragut.

Tuesday night I was assigned to cover Farragut High School Girls at the championship game for the District 4-AAA tournament.  I arrived early enough to set my lights up and shot the William Blount vs Heritage girls consolation game. William Blount High School won the game 47-40.

Friday night was a night for the boys at the District Tournament.  I was assigned to cover the Farragut vs West game at 8:00.  I had arrived early so I could setup my lights and not have a lot of people I would need to dodge while setting them up.  I already had some images for Farragut in since I had covered them Wednesday night.  I decided that I would set my lights up so that I would be covering West High School the first half and then Farragut the second half.  I have a deadline I have to meet for Friday night games.  This would ensure that the paper would have good photos to print for all the different sections.  West went onto win the game and will face Bearden next.
