Last Sunday evening I did a bridal session with Stephanie out at Concord Park and in the town of Concord, TN.  The town of Concord is not an area I normally hear about when people discuss photo locations, so I might have just let out a big secret.  I was really hoping to get some spectacular sunset shots when I planned this session, but the weather doesn’t always cooperate. 🙂 The rain did hold off until like 10 minutes after we finished up.  Now that the wedding is over with, it is safe to post these for all to see.  Stephanie was a beautiful bride! Stay tuned to this blog as I’ll be posting some images from her wedding on June 5th.

Wednesday night I was assigned to cover the Halls and Farragut baseball game.  After the previous nights sudden death overtime game, I was really hoping this game would not go into extra innings.  Both Halls and Farragut were district champions, so I was actually a little surprised at the final score.  Farragut was up 10-0 after Halls batted their fifth inning, so the game ended because of the mercy rule.  Home runs were hit by both Nick Williams and Ethan Bennett.

Wow! What a crazy game this was. I got my assignment to cover this game on Tuesday.  The winner of this game would advance on in the regional tournament and it would mean the end of their season for the loser. Hardin Valley got on the score board first with a goal from Hayden Zelem. This score would also be the only score of the first half.  Bearden tied up the score just shortly after the second half started with a goal from Ben Ferguson. Bearden then took the lead after a goal from Andrew Sullivan. Hardin Valley got the 2-2 equalizer goal from Justin Haskell off a corner kick. The game then went into overtime.  The rules of overtime state that two periods of 10 minute each are played. If the score is still tied up at the end of those overtime periods, then two 5 minute sudden death periods are played.  If there is no score at the end of those, then it comes down to penalty kicks.  In the fourth minute of the second sudden death period, Bearden’s Connor McCarty scored thus eliminating Hardin Valley from the tournament.

Wednesday I was assigned the West High School vs Farragut High School soccer g ame. Having not covered Farragut in soccer yet, I made the mistake of heading over to the High School to find the game.  I had expected it to be played at the football stadium… I was wrong.  I showed up and there was nothing going on at the football field.  I headed back to the car and went over to the middle school since there were lights on.  Turns out that is where the high school plays there games.

Farragut got on the scoreboard really quickly.  A penalty by West within the first minute lead to a penalty shot by Farragut.  West was able to score a goal, but in the end it was Farragut that came away with the 6-1 win.

Tuesday night I was assigned to cover the Bearden vs Catholic baseball game.  The winner of this game would go onto to face Maryville High School in a later game.  I was only assigned the first, so I only stayed for the first game.  The game started at 5:00.  I wasn’t able to get off work in time to cover the full game, but I was able to make it by the second inning.  The game ended with Bearden winning 5-2.  They would later beat Maryville and advanced on to play Farragut the next day.
